Snowdonia is a 1-5 player worker placement game by Tony Boydell. The advertised time is 30-90 minutes and is for ages 10 and up.
Snowdonia is my latest acquisition, so clearly, I need to review it. I’ve only played solo (for now), but the basic game play doesn’t change with the number of players.

Space Maze probably should have been called something else. Something like Space Obstacle Course, or Space Hair Remover. It isn’t a maze at all as there is only one direction to go, but there are a lot of things you have to avoid hitting while travelling in that direction and that is going to make you pull your hair out at times, so either of the names I have just suggested would work better than Space Maze I believe. Actually, make that Ethereal Blue-ish Somewhere Obstacle Course, because it isn’t really space either. I suppose that doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well, but it’s more accurate.

You could be forgiven for feeling that virtual reality is practically synonymous with less than stellar, quickly made horror experiences. If you’ve ever played an Affected game then you know that it doesn’t fall into that category. It is certainly a horror experience, just not a bad one. Affected has always been gorgeous, well crafted, and creepy as hell. And when I say always, I’m talking about a long time in VR terms.

Freeze Me is pretty much exactly the game that I’ve wanted since beating Mario 64 and never getting a proper sequel (we can debate until the end of time whether or not Super Mario Sunshine was a worthy successor and you will never convince me.) As soon as I heard about it’s development I began to follow it obsessively and watched every video that I could find on YouTube. This was partly because I was also developing a game and the fact that it was being made by one person was a pretty big inspiration and served to encourage me as I was learning. But a far bigger reason I was interested in it was that it was a bright, colourful platformer in the vein of Mario 64 and after twenty years I was finally going to get to play the game that I had been waiting for.
